I’m Dr. Brad Wildberg, owner of SouthWest Chiropractic in Eden Prairie, MN. With interests in biology and healthcare, I was introduced to the chiropractic profession through my wife’s chiropractor, only to find myself several months later signing up for classes at Northwestern College of Chiropractic in Minneapolis. Once I got started, I fell in love with it and never looked back. I’ve been practicing for 45 years!
The most common pain patients seek treatment for is back and neck pain, whether from injuries like car accidents, sports injuries, or the everyday demands of work and life. Headaches and extremity issues like knees and shoulders are also frequent concerns I see patients for.
Chiropractic works with the musculoskeletal system of the body (muscles, bones, and joints), but it actually goes deeper than muscle issues and pain. It works with the nervous system, the network that sends all the messages of our body from the brain to every part of our bodies and back up to the brain. Sometimes the nerve signals get interrupted, function is limited, or a patient experiences pain. That’s where I come in! Adjusting the spine relieves the pressure on the nerves, allowing messaging to be restored and function improved. This is why chiropractic can be a very crucial part of our health and vitality, and not just for pain.
It is common for patients with chronic pain to reach out to us for help. Difficult cases like sciatica and arthritis are also common conditions we treat. Often we are their last resort, or patients come to us after other treatments have failed. But when people give their body a chance to heal, together with chiropractic, improvement is the rule and not the exception. Our body’s healing process is a team effort. When a patient is on board and given the right tools, our bodies know how to heal, and they will.
We offer chiropractic, therapeutic massage, muscle electrical stimulation, pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy, high-intensity laser therapy, and nutritional supplementation.
After the history and examination, we give our patients a report of findings. This consultation explains what we found and suggests the plan of action to take. It is customized for each individual, taking into consideration the many dynamics each case presents. Treatment plans vary with the severity of the problem, how long it has been going on, the patient’s age, and even circumstances like the physicality of their job, financial concerns, or availability to come in. We are a team, creating a solution!
Chiropractic gives us the privilege to work with the most complicated and sophisticated entity in this world, the human body. Our priority is getting to the root of the pain. Pain is a symptom of some deficiency or malfunction. When you opt for medication, it often alleviates the pain but usually does not fix the issue causing the discomfort. Chiropractic focuses on restoration, not just symptom reduction. Physical therapy emphasizes stretching and strengthening muscle groups. The many medical options we have at our disposal are not one or the other. They work together to give people the best outcomes for their health and performance.
Success stories are a common occurrence, because chiropractic speaks for itself in the more than half a million adjustments I have done over my career. One of our most recent thank-you cards said, “You saved my life,” and another patient told us she wouldn’t be walking if it weren’t for Dr. Wildberg. What a rewarding profession to be in!
Some of the feedback we’ve gotten from patients is that we are a friendly, professional, efficient, and knowledgeable staff. Patients say they appreciate us working to accommodate their busy schedules, and they love that they can get multiple services at one clinic. People note that our location is convenient and our office is bright and cheery. Many of our patients are treated like family, and we agree!
Is chiropractic care right for you? We offer complimentary consultations, so come and see us!
Our new patient experience is one of our most important priorities, along with our talented staff. We are here to make you feel at home. Paperwork is emailed in advance and insurance is verified before you come in, with rare exception. What this means for you is less wait time and more transparency. For patients who are new to chiropractic, we work to ease any concerns and walk you through this new experience with care. Education is key!
Results can vary based on the severity of the issue you’re dealing with. It is common for people to start feeling some improvement after the first or second treatment, but it is important to remember that the body doesn’t heal immediately. Healing takes weeks, even though symptoms may ease much sooner.
To see the best results, we may recommend temporarily cutting back on some activities that aggravate the condition, and adding some activities that help you reach your health goals. Ultimately, we want you to get back to doing what you enjoy!
Chiropractic care is one of the safest health professions. Over 35 million people in the U.S. receive chiropractic care safely each year. There are also different adjusting techniques, like using an activator, a special tool that is gentler for vulnerable patients like the elderly or little ones. Our chiropractic tables can also accommodate special needs for pregnant women or various disabilities.
In this modern age, collaborative care with other healthcare providers is common and encouraged. Massage therapy is one example that speeds up pain relief and healing. As health care professionals, our patients’ recovery should be the common goal.
Dr. Wildberg’s advanced training includes a specialist degree, called a diplomate degree, in Rehabilitation. He served for 20 years on the National Board of Chiropractic (ACRB), testing other doctors of chiropractic for their licensure. His additional certifications and education include cervical spinal trauma, acupuncture, nutrition, and functional medicine. With research advancing at such a rapid rate, Dr. Wildberg has made advancing the cause of chiropractic a personal lifetime goal.
